A set of David Bowie's handwritten lyrics valued around 23-thousand U.S. dollars (£15,000) was put on display by Bonhams auction house in London on Friday (June 28).
The lyrics, signed and dated 1972 by Bowie on lined notepaper, were given to the founder of Bowie's New York fan club.
[Stephen Maycock, Bonhams]:
"It's very rare indeed. David Bowie material has been fairly scarce in the auction market in the last few years but we have noticed with the exhibition and David's raised profile more material has come onto the market recently so it's a very good time for something like the lyrics of one of David's most iconic songs to be offered for sale."
Also going on sale is a lock of Mick Jagger's hair which was kept by the family of his girlfriend when he was a student during the 1960s.
It is expected to fetch around three-thousand dollars (£2,000) as a 'cautious' estimate.
Proceeds from the sale will go to Changing Faces, a charity for people living with disfigurements.
Among other items in the sale is a cardinal red twelve string guitar used by David Bowie in 1972.
There is also a Fender Rhodes electric piano used by Eric Stewart on many of 10cc's biggest hits, and a guitar used by Jimmy Page.
The auction takes place on July 3.
