Rembrandt Flashmob Descends on Dutch Shopping Mall
Unsuspecting shoppers at a Dutch shopping mall had their heads turned as they watched a flashmob taking over the place, in a scene which could have easily escaped from Rembrandt's famous "The Night Watch" painting.
Some 30 actors dressed in the norms of seventeenth century fashion were seen marching between onlookers, abseiling from ropes and swinging from one end of the upper level to the other as if they were sailors on a pirate ship.
The stunt, which took place in the Dutch city of Breda last Friday (March 29), has been turned into a commercial video to promote the re-opening of the famous Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, which has been undergoing extensive restoration since 2003.
The museum's collection holds works by the country's famous old masters, including Rembrandt's "The Night Watch".
