Over the weekend, US Secretary of State John Kerry left his first official visit to China with a pledge from the two countries to work together on North Korea. Both sides say they are committed to finding a peaceful way to de-nuclearize the Korean peninsula. Conventional wisdom says that China, as North Korea’s closest ally, is the most able to influence the regime there. What kind of relationship do China and North Korea really have?
