Are North Korea’s Warnings a Serious Threat?
North Korea is warning of a nuclear war, saying that foreigners in South Korea should evacuate the peninsula. That’s just the latest in a series of increasingly dire threats from the North. Over the last few weeks, the regime has made comments on its “state of war” with South Korea, said it would restart a nuclear reactor, and threatened strikes on the US. But how serious are North Korea’s threats? How does Beijing view North Korea’s actions? And how should the US and China engage with North Korea?
