A New Type of Spy for China
It’s what the FBI is calling the “insider threat.” Last month, Chinese citizen Sixing Liu was sentenced to 5 years and 10 months in prison for violating a US arms embargo, by taking sensitive US military information from his employer, a defense contractor, back to China. There have been almost 100 similar cases in the last four years. But Liu is not a traditional spy. He wasn’t sent to the US by the Chinese government to get information. So why did he do it? And what can companies do to protect themselves from this new threat?
